    A secret symbol left by Caryll, runesmith of Byrgenwerth.

    The twisted cross means "Metamorphosis."

    Rotated clockwise, this rune boosts HP.

    followed. were only the beginning.

Overview

  • Caryll Runes are special items that you can attach to your character at the workshop in the Hunter's Dream. You can use up to four at onetime, and they provide a variety of very helpful effects. Use them tactically depending on the environments you plan to explore and the enemies you expect to face.
  • Before you can make use of Runes, you'll need the Rune Workshop Tool. This is found in Hemwick after defeating the Witch of Hemwick. After you have the tool, approach the Memory Altar in the Workshop and press X to equip Runes in your memory slots. You have three normal Memory Slots for basic runes, and a fourth "Oath Memory" slot. The basic runes are for use with normal Caryll Runes, and the Oath Memory slot is for Oath Runes only. Some runes have up to three different ranks, with higher ranked runes having more powerful effects.
  • Beware if you sell any Caryll Rune they will NOT respawn in New Game Plus.

Effects

  • Clockwise Metamorphosis increases your maximum HP. If you can't decide what Rune you want to use, this is an excellent generic choice. It'll help keep you alive! Max HP increases are extremely valuable in Bloodborne, as the Regain mechanic is only useful when you are able to take damage without dying. If the enemy kills you in one or two hits, you won't have the chance to Regain health at all!

  • Tier (1): Treasure in (Main Story): Forbidden Woods, Graveyard Path near locked gate.
  • Tier (2): Treasure in (Main Story): Nightmare Frontier, Lower Caves leading into Central Swamp Bank.
  • Tier (3): Treasure in (Root Dungeons): Pthumeru Ihyll; abbbxezk, F/R Pthumeru Ihyll L1 side area before layer boss [tested May 12, 2020], wc3x5v4n, F/R Pthumeru Ihyll L1, side area before layer boss [tested May 12, 2020], 9vb3tzza, Pthumeru Ihyll L1 [tested May 12, 2020]; alternatively found in False Depth Dungeon, jgn2jkkw, Pthumeru Ihyll L1, side area before layer boss [tested May 12, 2020]

Notes

  • Unique Coffin Item Treasure (available) in (Root Dungeons): Clockwise Metamorphosis +15% in Pthumeru Ihyll [All Layers] and Sinister Pthumeru Ihyll [All Layers], could be found in each bonus room and can only be looted once.   • Maximum HP value: with 99 VIT (1900 HP) and all three Clockwise Metamorphosis runes you will reach maximum of 2523 HP.
  • One of the two Metamorphosis Caryll Runes, the other one is Anti-Clockwise Metamorphosis.
