In-Game Description Explodes in raging flames when thrown against an object. One of the oldest hunter tools available in the workshop. Since the tragedy that struck Old Yharnam, fire has become a staple in beast hunts, and is thought to cleanse impurity. Certain types of beasts have an abnormal fear of flame. Note 1: The same in-game description in US & UK versions. ✓ Note 2: Original Japanese text on Original Japanese Item Index page. ✓ Effects When locked-on, Molotov Cocktails are thrown toward the enemy in a forward arc. When not locked-on, the Molotov will move in the direction your character is facing. The camera's orientation can also effect the height of the throw; you can use this to throw them over walls and other obstacles. For extra precision, you can use the Monocular for manual aim. Molotovs do 20 Armor Damage, so they can be used to setup a combo from a distance. You can hold 10 at one time. When a Molotov strikes an enemy or a solid object, it explodes, causing fire damage. This fire damage is strongly influenced by your character's arcane stat. Molotov Cocktails are very useful against enemies that are weak against fire, such as Brainsuckers. They can be boosted by Oil Urns and do extra damage on counter-hits. They also receive a double damage bonus against staggered foes. Early in the game, Molotov Cocktails are useful for defeating tough enemies like Scourge Beasts and the Cleric Beast. They have an area-of-effect, so they're great against enemy groups, too. They decrease in usefulness later in the game, but players with a high arcane stat can still use them to good effect against certain foes. The damage bonuses from Oil Urns and staggering an enemy stack, so with a high arcane stat it's possible to deal over 2000 damage with a single Molotov against an enemy with a fire weakness. Scaling Scaling determines how much additional damage a tool deals. Molotovs have area-of-effect therefore useful against groups of enemies.
