Moon ❘ 「月」	Caryll Rune

In-Game Description A secret symbol left by Caryll, runesmith of Byrgenwerth. A transcription of "moon," as spoken by the Great Ones inhabiting the nightmare. Gain more Blood Echoes. The Great Ones that inhabit the nightmare are sympathetic in spirit, and often answer when called upon. Note 1: The same in-game description in US & UK versions. ✓ Note 2: Original Japanese text on Original Japanese Item Index page. ✓ Overview Caryll Runes are special items that you can attach to your character at the workshop in the Hunter's Dream. You can use up to four at onetime, and they provide a variety of very helpful effects. Use them tactically depending on the environments you plan to explore and the enemies you expect to face. Before you can make use of Runes, you'll need the Rune Workshop Tool. This is found in Hemwick after defeating the Witch of Hemwick. After you have the tool, approach the Memory Altar in the Workshop and press X to equip Runes in your memory slots. You have three normal Memory Slots for basic runes, and a fourth "Oath Memory" slot. The basic runes are for use with normal Caryll Runes, and the Oath Memory slot is for Oath Runes only. Some runes have up to three different ranks, with higher ranked runes having more powerful effects. Beware if you sell any Caryll Rune they will NOT respawn in New Game Plus. Effects Moon Runes grant more Blood Echoes from defeating enemies. If you want to level up or purchase a lot of consumable items from the shop, these Runes are very helpful They don't grant any bonuses in combat, however, so only use Moon Runes when you don't need the boost that other Runes can give. Availability Tier (1): Treasure in (Main Story): Yahar'gul, Unseen Village (Evening), Yahar'gul Chapel Tier (2): Treasure in (Main Story): Nightmare of Mensis, bottom of Ascending Staircase leading to Mergo's Loft: Middle Lamp Tier (3): Acquired from (Main Story): Perform "Make Contact" gesture after you drop Brain of Mensis in Nightmare of Mensis, the Abyss. Notes It is not required to have Brain of Mensis alive, trigger to be able to get the rune is dropping it into the Abyss. In-Game Art
