Brain of Mensis ❘ メンシスの脳みそ	Strong Enemy

Description The immense brain that Mensis retrieved from the nightmare was indeed lined with eyes on the inside, but they were of an evil sort, and the brain itself was terrible rotten. But even still, it was a legitimate Great One, and left a relic. A living relic, at that, which is a precious thing indeed. - Living String Overview The Brain of Mensis hangs in the tower in the middle of the bridge between the keep and Mergo's Loft. It will continuously assault you with its gaze while you are outside the castle. You can approach it on an upper section of the bridge and strike it with ranged attacks, but it is completely invincible at this point and cannot be defeated by normal means. Strategy To destroy the brain, you'll need to jump out of one of the shortcut elevators to access a hidden path and pull the lever at the other end; this will release the chains from which it's suspended and drop it out of the tower, freeing the area from its damaging gaze. After the boss fight with Micolash, a cage elevator will descend to the prison area on the ground floor directly below the lift bridge; by riding this elevator, you can reach the now-helpless brain and destroy it. It will no longer be able to use its gaze attack after falling from the tower and has no other means of fighting back, so you can simply walk up and beat it to death with no opposition. Continuous assault with its gaze. Pull the lever to release its chains. Make Contact and beat it to death. Notes Killing Brain of Mensis will open Living String for purchase at Insight Bath Messengers. Performing Make Contact gesture in the Abyss (Nightmare of Mensis) does not require to have Brain of Mensis alive, trigger to be able to get Moon +30% Caryll Rune is dropping it into the Abyss. Despite Brain of Mensis having 999 Slow Poison & Rapid Poison resistances it is still vulnerable to such status. All enemies and bosses (except hunter enemies) have 999 frenzy resistance, despite that they are still vulnerable to such status. The only way to see it without modding is to use Shaman Bone Blade on enemy inflicting frenzy to attack others. [test video] There is only one in the entire game, it's not present in any other location nor Chalice Dungeon. If you kill it with poison (e.g. using Poison Knives) it won't drop the Living String, you will then have to reload the game and kill it again in order to drop it.
