Cain's Servant (Cane & Candelabra) ❘ カインの召使い	Regular Enemy

These small hunchbacked creatures can be found tending to their duties within the walls of Cainhurst Castle, and you'll first encounter them scrubbing the floors in the castle's Entrance Hall. These cane-carrying servants are extremely focused on their duties and won't attack without provocation, so you can leave them to carry on their work if you wish. If you do attack one, they'll retaliate with simple swings of their canes, but since they move very slowly and can't strike behind them, it's easy to get around them and finish them off with a quick R1 chain.

Once you reach the castle's library you'll encounter servants that carry candelabras along with their canes; these servants are always hostile and will pelt you with bullets of ice from extreme range using their canes as blowguns. Their blowgun attacks have two different properties, depending upon where you encounter them: the servants on the lower floor of the library will shoot you with bullets that inflict almost no damage, but mark you with a red glyph, which causes the surrounding Forsaken Castle Spirits to become much more aggressive. Servants on the upper balconies fire bullets that have no additional effects, but inflict substantial damage if they hit you.

The most dangerous Cainhurst servants, however, wield rapiers and use a completely different set of attacks than the other types. They strike rapidly with quick thrusts, slashes and multi hit combos, and will sometimes intentionally delay a slash to trick you into letting your guard down. They move quickly, are highly evasive and turn swiftly to face you, making their attacks extremely difficult to avoid. All Servants do share a similar weakness, however, and it is often the key to taking them out safely. Shooting them with any pistol or blunderbuss will knock them over for a short period of time, during which you can close in and put yourself in an advantageous position to hit them as they get up. If you're fighting multiple enemies at once and a Servant is among them, it can be worth shooting them every now and then just to keep them out of the fight, leaving you free to engage the other enemies.

These enemies are only a threat at a distance - once you get close, they're sitting ducks. It's best to eliminate the blowgun snipers first to prevent them from harassing you as you fight other enemies, especially if those enemies are knife-wielding Forsaken Castle Spirits. If you have Blue Elixirs you can use them to mask your presences while you fight other enemies out in the open so that you don't have to worry about incoming darts. On the upper levels, use the bookshelves for cover as you approach the servants with blowguns - they can provide safe spots to fight servants wielding rapiers if one spots you before you reach your target.

All enemies and bosses (except hunter enemies) have 999 frenzy resistance, despite that they are still vulnerable to such status. The only way to see it without modding is to use Shaman Bone Blade on enemy inflicting frenzy to attack others. [test video]

The symbol you are marked with when the Cain's Servant hit you with its blowgun is "Corruption" symbol, associated with the oath of the corrupt. Pledgers to this oath are Cainhurst Vilebloods. [image]
