Gel ❘ スライム／ ゲル	Regular Enemy

Description Gels are found in the lower areas of the dungeons and will occasionally ambush you by dropping from the ceilings to perform a falling grab attack. They move and strike incredibly slowly but have high physical defense and super armor, making physical damage useless against them; elemental attacks such as Molotovs and Rosmarinus are much more effective, as are weapons under the effects of Bolt or Fire Paper. They attack with simple body swings telegraphed long in advance, though they'll sometimes vary the timing to trick you into dropping your guard and attacking too soon. Gels are weak against lightning and can be struck down quickly by an electrified Tonitrus or physical weapons augmented with a Blood Gem or Bolt Paper. Strategy Destroy Gels from outside their attack range with Rosmarinus or Flamesprayer blasts, or power up your weapons with Bolt Paper and cut them down with R1 combos. If you have no Bolt Paper, hit them with the Hunter's Torch or Tonitrus; avoid standing near them for too long, though, or you risk being flattened by their slam attacks. Gels will rear up slowly before all of their attacks, signaling that they're about to strike - at this point, quickstep backward to avoid being hit. They are immune to visceral attacks, so don't bother trying to interrupt or stagger them; save your Quicksilver Bullets for the Flamesprayer or Rosmarinus. Notes During Gel grab attack animation, damage can NOT be reduced by repeatedly pressing buttons (mashing). Despite Gel having 999 Slow Poison & Rapid Poison resistances it is still vulnerable to such status. All enemies and bosses (except hunter enemies) have 999 frenzy resistance, despite that they are still vulnerable to such status. The only way to see it without modding is to use Shaman Bone Blade on enemy inflicting frenzy to attack others. [test video] You will find this enemy in Preset Chalice Dungeons: Central Pthumerian Labyrinth, Hintertomb, Lower Pthumerian Labyrinth, Ailing Loran, Lower Loran, Isz Gravestone. Despite official guide lists this enemy in following Preset Chalice Dungeon it is not located there; guide's list: Pthumerian Labyrinth.

Pungent Blood Cocktails don't attract this enemy, making the item ineffective. Shaman Bone Blades affect this enemy, making it hostile to other enemies.

The basic formula is: Total Value = Base x A x B x C x D. Multipliers written down below were datamined directly from the game files. Multiplier A represents depth (1 - 5) of the chalice dungeon; multiplier B is layer (1 - 4) of the specific chalice dungeon; multiplier C is used when dungeon is Pthumeru Ihyll; multiplier D is for calculating blood echoes when additional curse rite is used.
